Financial Management
Bookkeeping & BAS
Your books and your BAS are the same job done twice when they sit with different people. BPS handles both — recording and reconciling day to day, then preparing and lodging from those same figures, so the deadline stops being something you think about and you always know where the business stands.
What bookkeeping and BAS cover
Bookkeeping is the day-to-day record of money moving in and out: sales, purchases, expenses and bank transactions, all recorded and reconciled. Your BAS reports the GST you’ve collected and paid, your PAYG withholding and other obligations to the ATO. The second is only as reliable as the first.
BPS takes on both. We record transactions and reconcile accounts as the month goes, then prepare and lodge your BAS from those same reconciled records — keeping clear workpapers so every figure is documented and defensible should the ATO ask.
Because the work is done regularly rather than rushed at BAS time, anomalies surface before lodgement rather than after, and your accounts stay ready for tax time and for any decision in between.
Who it’s for
Likely a fit if any of these sound familiar.
- Data entry, reconciliation and BAS preparation are consuming hours you don’t have.
- Your financial reports are late, incomplete or difficult to trust.
- You’re not fully confident your GST and PAYG figures are correct.
- You’ve incurred, or risk incurring, penalties for errors or late lodgement.
- You’re unsure of your cash position at any given moment.
- Your accounting software isn’t set up to work for you, or your BAS data isn’t connecting cleanly with the rest of your accounts.
How we run your books
Two streams of work, one team, one set of records.
Keeping the books
- Record all financial transactions accurately and on time.
- Reconcile bank accounts regularly and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Manage accounts receivable and payable to support your cashflow.
- Process payroll, including tax withholding and reporting.
- Prepare key reports, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cashflow.
- Set up and support your accounting software, including Xero and MYOB.
Preparing and lodging the BAS
- Prepare and lodge your BAS with the ATO, including data entry and calculations.
- Reconcile your GST accounts and prepare accurate GST reports.
- Manage PAYG withholding obligations and reporting.
- Assist with eligible fuel tax credit claims.
- Handle Wine Equalisation Tax (WET) calculations where relevant.
- Keep detailed workpapers that reconcile your BAS back to your accounting records.
How the two connect
The same records carry through the whole cycle, so nothing is rebuilt from scratch at lodgement.
01
Record
Transactions captured as they happen, in your accounting software rather than a shoebox.
02
Reconcile
Accounts matched back to source records, with discrepancies resolved before they compound.
03
Lodge
BAS prepared from those reconciled figures and lodged on time, with workpapers behind it.
What you get
Books that are accurate and always up to date.
Accurate BAS lodged on time, every period.
Financial reports you can rely on when making decisions.
Reduced exposure to ATO penalties and audit issues.
Better visibility of your cash position.
A clear paper trail behind every figure.
One point of contact instead of two, with no handover gaps.
Time back to focus on the business, not the ledger.
Why BPS
We work directly in your accounting software (Xero, MYOB or similar) and keep your books current rather than catching up at BAS time — so your lodgement is accurate rather than approximate, and the numbers are ready whenever a decision is required. BPS is based in Perth and works with businesses across Western Australia.
