The challenge
Where they were
Tough Glass manufactures and supplies glass products and solutions to clients across Western Australia. The business set out to drive financial growth and profitability by lifting the efficiency of its internal operations while extending its reach into more of the WA market.
Those two objectives pull in different directions unless someone is holding them together. The middle management layer — the people who would have to run a larger, faster operation — needed developing before either goal was achievable.
What we did
- Worked closely with the Director and management team to build a multi-faceted growth strategy rather than a series of disconnected initiatives
- Focused the strategy on two fronts at once: operational performance and sales performance
- Delivered training and mentoring to middle management, building the capability needed to run a larger operation
- Implemented process improvements aimed squarely at minimising cost while increasing revenue
The outcome
What changed
Tough Glass has grown into one of the leading glass processing companies in Western Australia. Productivity improved by more than 30%, sales increased more than fivefold over three years, and the business outgrew its premises and moved to a larger manufacturing facility.
Measured results
- Productivity up more than 30%
- Sales up more than fivefold over three years
- Moved to a larger manufacturing facility
- Middle management trained and mentored to run a larger operation
